Can't Stay Focused In Your Business? Do This. | Chris Marcell

Can’t Stay Focused In Your Business? Do This.

It was 1:00 AM in the morning and I just finished binge-watching an earlier season of The Walking Dead. I had some business work to finish for the day and I ended up not completing anything.

That’s right.. not a thing.

I went to bed that night feeling like I was missing something. It just doesn’t feel right when you aren’t making the progress that you aim for.

It can be really unmotivating when you make goals and don’t accomplish them. This can be a trap for many people trying reach their goals.

Before you know it, two months have passed and you still don’t have anything to show for it. A lot of people get stuck in this unproductive spiral…

And it can slow you down big time.

So, here’s some things you can do to fix it right away. Because we all have those moments where we become our own worst enemy.

The first option might seem super obvious but it’s the most effective way of cutting out distractions. Go over to your WIFI and shut it down temporarily.

I know what you’re thinking, “but Chris, I need to make sure I get all the updates from my favorite content creators”. And to that, I say you should turn off your phone too.

Shut it all down.

In order to be more productive, you should remove yourself from anything and everything that will distract you.

Now, listening to music is an exception. But don’t be connected to the internet while you’re listening to it. I find that music helps both my creativity and focus.

A technique I often share with people is to listen to instrumentals while working.

This has to be one of my favorite techniques because it boosts my imagination while also keeping my mind focused on finishing one task.

If that one doesn’t work for you then you should try this next one instead. I usually do this the night before so I know exactly what I have to do when I wake up.

And that’s writing a to-do list for the day that’s based on a strict schedule. Doing this, allows you to prioritize a set of daily goals around a strict time.

I noticed that a common trait among successful entrepreneurs is their serious daily routine. We have a strict timing for everything that we do.

For example, one of my mentors goes running at 6:00 AM every single morning like clockwork. This helps him to get his energy up high so that he can stay healthy and focus on his daily tasks.

I definitely try to take down notes from him whenever I can since he’s now operating a multimillion-dollar marketing empire.

And I like learning from the best… The deadline technique is also a cool little thing I picked up from him.

I’m not sure how you handle deadlines but when I’m expecting to finish something at a certain time I feel a sense of urgency to complete it.

It’s almost like how your school teacher’s use to give you a deadline to complete an assignment. As soon as the time approached closer I was always that one kid who was rushing to turn it in on time.

You can apply this feeling of urgency to other areas of your life too. Especially if you want to make sales. All you have to do is run a sale with a timer and there you go.

The perfect urgency sales generator for your customers.

Staying focused is a hard thing for many people to do, so don’t beat yourself up if you still struggle from time to time in finishing that last sales email or marketing video for your subscribers.

This happens to everyone – just make sure to take your time and try your best. And know that it gets easier with repetition (like exercising a muscle).

If you really want to improve your focus then consistently practice developing your concentration skills by using different techniques like the ones above.

That’s how you become a master at eliminating distractions and being overall more productive in your daily life.
